I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Interior Architecture from Kansas State University and an M.F.A. in Industrial Design from the University of Kansas. My professional journey began at the Kansas Cosmosphere as an Exhibit Designer, where I was part of a small design team that created multiple galleries, educational spaces, and portable exhibits. This role instilled in me a deep appreciation for the power of objects and taught me how to craft compelling narratives through artifacts and spatial design. Subsequently, I joined a start-up industrial design firm specializing in private and corporate jets. During my three and a half years there, I progressed from being the first full-time designer to the program manager for aviation products, overseeing a team of designers. I led projects with Gulfstream (previously Galaxy Aerospace), Embraer, Beech, Cessna, and numerous private owners, developing and producing aircraft interiors. We also designed consumer and commercial goods. While this experience was fulfilling, the workload was unsustainable. I took a break from the industry to pursue an M.F.A. in industrial design, where I taught and conducted research while exploring my design theories. Upon returning to the field, I established my own product design firm, which I ran for 14 years. During this period, I was responsible for creating hundreds of products, retail environments, furniture pieces, and prototypes. I also continued teaching, offering courses in digital fabrication, CNC plasma cutting, CNC routing, welding, and metal fabrication. In 2020, I closed my firm and prototyping studio and relocated to Santa Fe, where I worked as a kitchen and bath designer before returning to Kansas City. Currently, I operate a 1500 sq. ft. shop in North Kansas City, collaborating with a diverse clientele to develop and design consumer products, commercial equipment, retail fixtures, and custom environments.
